Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2017, Patrick has rapidly distinguished himself as a subject matter expert in Canadian broadcasting law. Having led the development and implementation of generational amendments to Canada’s regulatory framework for broadcasting, through the drafting and passage of Bill C-11, The Online Streaming Act — Patrick has since shifted his attention and resources to assisting industry stakeholders navigate this new regulatory environment. In 2022 - Patrick spearheaded the founding of Law Smith - Legal Services to accomplish this objective.
Patrick is, at his core, an advocate. His practice is anchored by a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a concentration in law and technology, which equips him with the expertise to address the legalities at the convergence of innovation and regulation.
While Patrick's expertise is geared primarily to the Canadian film and television sectors, he maintains a robust civil litigation practice, with a proven track record in real estate law, addressing complex disputes through advocacy before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. This dimension of his practice is not just a testament to his versatility but rather an everyday outlet for his advocacy skills.
